William Wright Photography: Beautiful Images Demand Simplicity

In his search for an online solution that reflected his brand, and provided content management tools, Bill Wright turned to Effective Design Studio.

Having recently designed the new brand identity for William Wright Photography, our team understood the company's core values and personal style. It was also important that the design solution be simple yet rich, to provide a neutral background to display his award-winning images. The result is outstanding. His collections of exceptional photography can be viewed at www.williamwrightphoto.com.

Keep It Current

Static HTML sites are becoming a thing of the past. Clients now frequently want the ability to update content on their own schedule without having to go back to the site’s original designer for each and every change. We can't blame them. Clients who make changes as often as they need to can keep overhead lower, and keep content more current. Who doesn't want to do that?

CMS Solutions
There are more options for CMS (Content Management Systems) solutions every day. They are becoming lighter weight, easier to install and more non-tech friendly. The types of CMSs vary widely from software such as Adobe Contribute, blog-based software like WordPress, to more robust systems like Joomla or Drupal — not to mention all the options in between. Custom systems can also be designed depending on the needs of the client.

The CMS system you choose depends on what you need it to do for you. For example, one company might want to be able to add new articles to their blog and have them appear on the home page, while rarely making changes to the rest of the pages on their site. This was the case when we worked with Plymouth Housing Group and William Wright Photography. Other companies might want the freedom to change just a few pages but with high frequency, as Urban Visions did for their vacancy listings. Finally, some need control of the entire site in order to keep up with an ever-evolving event, like Plymouth Housing did for their "Seattle Dances" fundraising event. Here at e!, we were able to work with each of these clients to customize their CMS solution.

Customizing the Look
Maintaining the client's brand and messaging is top priority. But as designers, we know that the design and content need to look great to get visitors engaged and spend the maximum time on your site. The longer they stay, the more great content they will find delivering your message. So, even moreThe good news is that in addition to becoming easier to build and update, these tools are also becoming easier to customize for the look and feel.
